MASTERPLUS IN 10 LESSONS
2- During training, make sure that the collar is ready to be triggered at any time when the behaviour to be discouraged may occur. 3- If the dog is not already wearing the collar, put it on at least 20 minutes before the walk so that the dog does not come to associate the putting on of the collar with either going out or exercise. 4- In order to train your dog, organise one or two daily sessions lasting no more than 30 minutes so that neither you nor the dog lose patience. For retraining, you can either organise specific sessions during which the behaviour to be discouraged is provoked or you can wait for the bad behaviour, in which case, the collar must be ready to be triggered at all times.
5- The collar can deliver two different amounts of spray and the amount can be varied to increase the surprise and stop your dog becoming accustomed to the stimulus. If the dog is deeply absorbed, it may be necessary to use a stronger stimulus. 6- When you trigger the spray, try to ensure that the dog does not see you pointing the remote control in his direction. Unless you want him to associate the prohibition with your presence and learn to behave well only when you are there, he must have the impression that the burst of spray comes out of the blue. You can achieve this by keeping the remote control in a jacket pocket and looking the other way and not repeating the same movements when you trigger it. Do not always assume the same pose because dogs are very sensitive to body language and will soon be able to predict when you are about to press the button! Act as naturally as possible and try to concentrate on some other activity. 7- Set the spray off as soon as you see the dog start towards the thing that is going to induce the behaviour to be discouraged. The earlier you act, the easier it will be to distract the dog. It is difficult to stop a train that is running at full speed! When your dog pauses, get his attention straight away by calling him and enthusiastically encouraging him to play with you. Your demeanour should suggest fun. Show him toys that you have secretly brought out with you. Play with him for a few minutes and then steer him towards places where more bad behaviour is likely to occur. 8- If the stimulus was not strong enough to completely distract your dog, increase it directly to the maximum possible and pretend to be extremely interested in playing a certain game in order to attract him.
10- Remember to praise your dog when he behaves well!
